Yahya was the son whose birth Allah announced to Zakariyya. The angels gave the news while his father was praying. Surah Aal Imran describes Yahya as confirming a word from Allah, honourable and a prophet among the righteous. These passages connect his birth with his father’s prayer and Allah’s gift, rather than a made-up account of childhood incidents.
Allah instructed Yahya to hold firmly to the Scripture. He was given understanding while still young. His account shows that learning and taking guidance seriously can begin in childhood.
Allah gave Yahya tenderness and purity, and he was mindful of Allah. These qualities describe a caring and upright character, alongside the understanding he had been given.
Yahya was kind and dutiful to his parents, rather than arrogant and disobedient. The Quran speaks of peace upon him at his birth, death and resurrection. These verses praise his character; they do not describe a particular mistake.
This is an original, simplified retelling of selected Quranic accounts and sahih narrations, not a word-for-word translation or a complete biography. Each section links to its sources. Any tafsir explanation is labelled separately. Where the cited sources give less detail, the account remains shorter. The final takeaway is a learning activity.
