Shuayb warned a prosperous people not to reduce measure or weight, deprive people of their due or spread corruption. They questioned whether his prayer required them to abandon their ancestors’ worship or stop doing whatever they wished with their wealth. His message joined worship with fairness: owning wealth did not permit cheating another person.
Shuayb explained that he did not intend to do himself what he forbade them. He wanted reform as far as he could, and his success depended on Allah. He reminded them of earlier communities and invited repentance, describing his Lord as merciful and loving. His message was not a demand for personal wealth or power; it was an invitation to correct their conduct.
He warned them not to threaten people on the roads or turn believers away from Allah's path. Some proud leaders rejected him and threatened to drive him and the believers from their town.
When Allah's judgement came, Shuayb and the believers were saved by His mercy. Those who did wrong faced punishment. The account warns against cheating, intimidation and rejecting sincere guidance.
