1. Homes in the mountains
Salih called Thamud to worship Allah alone. His people lived in a land where they built palaces and carved homes in mountains. He reminded them to be grateful and not spread corruption.

Salih presented the she-camel as a sign from Allah and told the people not to harm her. Surah Al-Qamar explains that the water was to be shared by turns. The animal was a test of their obedience. Instead of recognising the warning, the people questioned why a man from among them should be followed and called him a liar. The Quran does not state the camel’s colour in these passages.
A she-camel was given as a sign. Salih told the people to let her graze and not hurt her. They ignored the warning, killed the camel and challenged him to bring the promised punishment.
After the camel was killed, Salih told the people that they would remain in their homes for three days; the warning would not prove false. Allah saved Salih and the believers through His mercy. The wrongdoing people were overtaken by the cry, while another passage describes the earthquake. Their homes and strength could not protect them after they persisted in rejecting the sign.
Treat animals gently and do not harm them.
A learning takeaway, not a quotation from the Quran. This is an original, simplified retelling of selected Quranic accounts and sahih narrations, not a word-for-word translation or a complete biography. Each section links to its sources. Any tafsir explanation is labelled separately. Where the cited sources give less detail, the account remains shorter. The final takeaway is a learning activity.
