Nuh warned his people to worship Allah, be mindful of Him and obey the messenger. He called them by day and night, openly and privately. He urged them to ask Allah for forgiveness, reminding them of rain, provision and the signs of creation. Yet many covered their ears, refused to listen and followed leaders who insisted on keeping their idols. The Quran says he remained among his people for nine hundred and fifty years.
Some leaders objected that Nuh was a human like them and that apparently ordinary people had followed him. Nuh said that his reward was with Allah and refused to drive away the believers. He did not claim to own Allah’s treasures or know the unseen. The value of the believers was not decided by the leaders’ social pride.
Allah instructed Nuh to build an ark under His guidance. Some leaders of his people mocked him as he worked. Nuh continued building as Allah had instructed.
When Allah’s command came, Nuh was told to board pairs of creatures, those of his family permitted to come, and the believers. Only a small number had believed. Nuh told them to board in Allah’s name, relying on His forgiveness and mercy. The ark sailed through waves described as being like mountains. This was rescue by Allah’s command, not a boat built against His guidance.
Nuh called to a son who was apart from the others, urging him to join them and not stay with the disbelievers. The son thought a mountain would protect him. Nuh explained that nothing could protect from Allah’s command except His mercy. A wave came between them, and the son drowned. Family relationship alone did not replace faith and obedience.
Allah commanded the water to subside, and the ark came to rest on Judi. Nuh and those aboard were saved. The account shows that safety came through Allah's mercy, rather than the people's pride or plans.
Nuh appealed to Allah about his son, mentioning the promise and their family bond. Allah told him that the son was not included in the promised saved family and warned him not to ask about what he did not know. Nuh immediately sought refuge from asking without knowledge and asked for forgiveness and mercy. He was then told to leave the ark in peace and with blessings.
This is an original, simplified retelling of selected Quranic accounts and sahih narrations, not a word-for-word translation or a complete biography. Each section links to its sources. Any tafsir explanation is labelled separately. Where the cited sources give less detail, the account remains shorter. The final takeaway is a learning activity.
